About Klaipeda University
Klaipeda University is a young and dynamic hub for learning, research, and innovation on the Baltic coast. Established in 1991, it transformed Klaipėda into a true university city and has since become a center of knowledge for Western Lithuania.
Today, KU is home to 3,000 students pursuing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, and it has already graduated nearly 40,000 professionals across diverse fields — from teachers and scientists to managers, engineers, and health specialists.
The university is built around three faculties – Marine Technologies and Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Health Sciences – along with two research institutes: the Marine Research Institute and the Institute of Baltic Region History and Archaeology. Through these, KU reinforces its position as a leading center for marine and environmental research.
Beyond academics, KU is strongly connected to global networks. As a member of EU-CONEXUS, a European university alliance, it creates opportunities for joint study programmes, international research, and student mobility.
The campus blends heritage and modernity, with renovated 19th-century barracks alongside state-of-the-art labs, a business incubator, and student facilities. It’s a place where history meets innovation, and where local impact connects with global ideas.
